GMAX!!!

Post by S Maddox »

Just wanna start off by sayin that the track and all the hard work looks good at GMAX!!! However i do have a couple questions & concerns with GMAX- 2 start with i know that the weather has been problems all winter and alot of money and time has already been spent but is anything gonna be done to the parking area???? Hope something is done soon bc if many people show up for the bracket racing starting Saturday there may not be anywhere 2 park besides in red dirt and if it rains red mud???? Also i havent run on the track yet and i know its still fresh but got any ideas on what can be done 2 make down track better??? The starting line looks amazing but looks like everybody that is fast is loose down track????

As i said im very happy with what has been done but hope that the work doesnt stop. Look forward 2 racing on the new track as soon as i get a bullet!!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing about the parking, but surely it will be fixed. Hope the track gets better, I heard the same thing also. I know it has been ran on 2 Saturdays, but the track is still green. Now if this is still happening in June, there may be a problem!

Awood....... my junk is so slow I don't need to worry about down track

I will agree that I like the upgrades that have been done to the facility...from the new track and return road on top end to the new timing equipment and all the hard work and efforts that have been spent over the winter. And I too am hoping that the rest of the concerns expressed will be addressed sooner than later and am looking forward to this weekends race....and they are actually giving a nice forecast which I think should help the traction issues.

But my question for this is that Greer is not the only place that has these issues when the weather is margional...other tracks have the same issues so is there a common denominator in all of this?? Like what kind of traction compounds are used??...is there a difference in the brands used??...is it different now than what is was say 5 years ago cause it didn't seem to be this consistent of a problem back then or are cars just making that much more power now than then and its more noticeable?? I will admit my car was wanting to move around some on top end as the day went on but didn't notice it anymore after the track was prepped again during the Gambler's Race....I don't have the answers, just sharing my thoughts!!

But that sure is a smooth track and shut down area though.... 8-) 8-) 8-)

I have raced on several new track surfaces from SS, Pageland, Z max and Union and none were great for everyone to start with. Most of you have run on new tracks too and you know how it is. I think the concrete has to age and get weathered and maybe because there is construction involved and dirt and dust maybe that adds to the problem. It is new, it is winter, and it is too cold, so I think it will come around in time. It's smooth, it's been gound so it will be great given a little time. JMO.

Well Joe i understand that it is a fresh track and that it will get better. But as Chad said it seems like this is a common thing going on at all tracks right now-down track being slick???? I mean i have heard of more cars wrecking over the past 6-8 months than we have in the previous 6-8 years. And its not just on new tracks its tracks like Rockingham, Piedmont, etc. I believe it could possibly be the track compound being used but i really dont know. Im sure u give Mike Greer a lil time and he will figure out what the track needs 2 work 2 its potential!!!

Good Luck 2 everyone Saturday and Be Safe!!!!

Double Barrell may be a spectator Sat if it isnt 2 cold!!!

That is right Lizzard, there is alot of this going on with alot of tracks not just Greer. Look at all the problems the nhra has had with the compound they use. I think that it is too early to determine about Gmax though and I'm willing to bet after this Sat it will get better. As I mentioned in the other post and Joe did as well the track is basically still green, but it may very well be the compound being used in addition to this. Double Barrell you are right, there has been a whole lot of wrecks here recently and it don't seem like there was no where that many before. I mean these wrecks happen without anything on the cars breaking, it's like they are on a sheet of ice.

I just wanna make a suggestion that i think may could help out 4 now until all the bugs get worked out at GMAX!!! While its so cold outside why not open the gates at like 10 and try 2 have the race started by 1:30 so that the hole race will be run in the day light hours and while it is warm outside. Bc we all know its gotta be better when it is warm and heat is in the track then it is when its cold and no sunshine on the track!!!

Just a suggestion that may wanna be considered!!!!

Alisha was your dad going to put back up the win light bulbs on the guardrail past the finish line. I don't know why I'm worried cause when I go racing mine didn't come on before he took them down,so why are they going to come on now....  :D
