I heard there was going to be a new drag strip built in Cherokee County. Matt Mullins and Bill Conger are the partners. Racers Paradise is the name of it.

Well Jonathon thats good 2 hear but now what is the likely hood of it happening. The only new track that double barrell is worried with is the new GMAX!!!!   I just hope that Greer gets everything done by opening day and doesnt push any of his ideas off on the back burner bc he runs out of time!!!

That just seems like a bad idea with Union and Shadyside so close and the new G-Max about to open for business.

How many times have people heard and read about new tracks going to be built that never are? I origionally heard it would be a road course and asphalt short track like Greenville Pickens. Guess we'll just wait and see but I'm thinking nobody with any business smarts would invest in a dragstrip when there are so many already here.

For anyone interested it seems like County counsel has approved the construction of this racing complex. They have not agreed to do anything with the noise ordinance yet though. But I am not sure sure about any of this actually happening. It doesn't sound like these guys have any money to invest and they plan to sell shares or interest of the facility to racers and race car owners to get the money. This creative financing method has been attempted and failed several times before. I know I sat though several presentations from a group of guys who wanted to build a complex like this in the Rockhill area 10 yrs ago. They had the site picked out, approval from Rockhill, had construction estimates, but didn't have any money. If they don't have the money or solid financing I doubt it will ever happen. JMO.

If this new motorplex does happen I herd it would be like a country club. You would have to pay a membership fee like $4500 a year to race there.

Bubba, you know if this is true, we won't be there nor will anybody on this site!
Besides we got the new Gmax and SS to run at. I'm like Joe, I don't see it happening, no matter who has approved it.

David, I don't see it happening either. I have talked to three people that lives in that area and they are thinking about getting a petition started to fight it. But, Joe can look on the bright side of this if they do build it, he can drive his car to the track.
